However, recent incidents and concerns have been raised to the Board’s attention that we are obligated to address. As much as we love our pets, ownership comes with responsibility and, while Ridgefield does not have leash laws, the town does adhere to the State of Connecticut laws governing dog ownership that can be found here https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_435.htm. Sections 22-362-364 address annoyance by dogs on roadways, sidewalks; nuisance, in general, and dogs roaming at-large.

Beyond these concerns, there have been sightings of dog waste in yards and bags left curbside, a problem first addressed four years ago. Damage to plants and mulch beds has also been reported. When walking your dog, please be mindful of the need to dispose of waste properly and that not all locations are ok for a bathroom break or marking territory.

Thanks for your help and consideration,

    The TRHA Board
